My drawing led me to work in a field of mechanical drawing for warehouse and conveyor equipment. I later learned the use of drawing with computers, both two and three dimensional pieces. This work definitely influenced my art. For several years while I was working, I was taking drawing classes of both male and female nudes at the Manifest Drawing Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
My art work has recently been influenced by gay male Chinese artists. I have tried to keep my work fresh and original and not copy any artist style. But the simplicity of their work which emphasizes details seems to be evident in my work. Balance, composition, and positive and negative spaces has always been one of my main concerns and a lot of time and work has to be completed before I start painting. Computers are great tools to review designs.
I make no effort to hide the fondness for a man’s genitalia. I have been openly gay since my elementary schooling – grade three. I like all sizes and shape of men and find beauty in them all.
I am presently working with acrylic paints and using them much like water colors or glazes when using oil paints. This helps to keep my paint bright and I am trying to reflect the character such as done by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. My paintings need several light coats of varnish to protect them.
